How Satan Uses Rappers Like This To Rob Christians Of Riches!
A recent comment by rapper 21 Savage sheds light on a major issue that holds many Christians back from financial success. He stated:
“If I started making music about Jesus Christ and turkey drives, how many fans would I have? Zero.”
Sadly, this mindset reflects a widespread lie that many Christians believe—that success and faith cannot coexist. This false belief has led many believers to struggle financially, thinking they must choose between honoring God and achieving success.
But is this really true? Does being a devoted Christian mean financial lack?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
In fact, the Bible is filled with examples of faithful, successful believers. Let’s uncover the truth and expose the deception that keeps many Christians from walking in the financial blessings God intends for them.
God’s People in the Bible Were Wealthy
When you read through the Scripture, you’ll notice something surprising: many of God’s most faithful followers were also very wealthy.
Consider these examples:
- Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – Each of them was blessed with great wealth in livestock, land, and resources (Genesis 13:2, Genesis 26:12-14).
- Job – The Bible describes him as the greatest man among all the people of the East because of his wealth and righteousness (Job 1:3).
- Matthew – Before following Jesus, he was a wealthy tax collector with significant financial resources (Matthew 9:9).
- The Disciples – Peter, John, James, and Andrew were business owners who ran a fishing enterprise. They weren’t poor but had enough resources to leave their work and follow Jesus (Luke 5:10-11).
Nowhere in the Bible does God call His people to poverty as a requirement for righteousness. Instead, faithful stewardship of wealth allows believers to expand God’s Kingdom and bless others.
How This Lie Cost Me My First Business
I once believed the same false mindset that 21 Savage expressed. It’s the idea that making money as a Christian means you’re less spiritual or somehow compromising your faith.
In my first business, I was making thousands of dollars every month. But deep down, I wrestled with thoughts like:
- Am I being too focused on money?
- Does financial success mean I’m less likely to get to heaven?
- Should I downplay my faith so I don’t lose customers?
Because of these doubts, I sabotaged my own success. I felt like I had to suppress who I was, hiding the fact that I was a devout Christian. But now I realize that this was a deception meant to keep me from prospering.
The Bible never says wealth is evil. Instead, it warns about the love of money in 1 Timothy 6:10:
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” – 1 Timothy 6:10
The problem isn’t wealth—it’s who controls your heart. When you honor God first, He will bless you in ways that go beyond finances.
Christians Can Be Successful Without Hiding Their Faith
One of the biggest mistakes Christians make is believing they must hide their faith to be successful. But the Scripture shows us that true success comes from boldly living out our faith.
Joseph: Success Without Compromise
Joseph was a Hebrew man in a foreign land, yet he never hid his faith. When Pharaoh asked him to interpret a dream, Joseph gave all credit to God (Genesis 41:16).
Instead of trying to fit in with Egyptian culture, Joseph stood firm in his faith. Because of his God-given wisdom and integrity, he was promoted to second-in-command over Egypt (Genesis 41:41-44).
Joseph’s success didn’t come in spite of his faith—it came because of his faith.
Paul: An Entrepreneurial Minister
Paul was not only a preacher but also a tent maker (Acts 18:3). He worked to support his ministry so he wouldn’t burden others financially.
“I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing… You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.” – Acts 20:33-34
Paul understood that making money ethically and honoring God were not opposites—they worked together.
The idea that Christians shouldn’t seek success is a lie from Satan designed to keep believers struggling. When Christians have financial resources, they can:
- Fund ministries and missions that spread the Gospel.
- Support their families without financial stress.
- Create opportunities for others by hiring and mentoring.
The Chick-fil-A Example: Faith and Business Can Thrive Together
A great modern-day example is Chick-fil-A. They are one of the most successful fast-food chains in America, yet they openly honor God by closing on Sundays.
Despite industry experts predicting their failure for shutting down on a high-sales day, Chick-fil-A has grown to be one of the top-performing fast-food brands in the country.
This proves that you don’t have to hide your faith to be successful. When you build your business on Biblical principles, God blesses it in ways the world cannot understand.
Embrace Your Faith and Step Into Success
Many Christians live far below their God-given potential because they believe Satan’s lie that faith and success cannot coexist. But the Bible clearly shows that:
- God blesses His people with financial success when they honor Him.
- Entrepreneurs in the Bible prospered without compromising their faith.
- Christians today can succeed in business without hiding their beliefs.
It’s time to reject the lie that faith and financial success don’t mix. Instead, step boldly into what God has called you to do—whether in business, leadership, or any other area of influence.
