Don’t live in the past…

It is now 2013 and I want to set out a warning from day one. Many people for several different reasons like to live in the past. Whether they had good times in 2012, or they just can’t be bothered to progress further and their peak pace, people find themselves still looking back as they move forward. It doesn’t need science to explain and you can clearly see for yourself with a short demonstration. Stand and walk a few steps forward, focusing on what is in front of you and then do it again looking over your shoulder. The level of effort needed to do the latter is much more. We don’t need to even think about the past in that regard because we make and define our future by what we do today.

2012 is over so we don’t even need to think about it. The time to review should have come and gone. Now focusing on the task at hand what did you say you would do this year? I don’t want to dwell on past failures, I want to captivate myself, thinking, believing and making my future the present. All the time we spend speaking about others, talking about our pasts, merely slows us down and stops us from using the momentum we create. I used to find every year started the same…Empty promises which usually ended within the first weeks or month. This was because I continued to focus on past attempts and not changing my future. Don’t make this year the same because I am not…
