Even God, after six days of creation, stopped working. If rest was part of God’s perfect design, it should also be part of how we run our businesses and daily lives.

One of the most overlooked benefits of rest is how it enhances creativity and problem-solving. Some of the best business ideas don’t come when you’re overworked but when you allow yourself to step away.

Personally, some of my most profitable ideas have come during days off, proving that stepping back can actually propel business forward.

Research shows that businesses that encourage rest and work-life balance often see higher levels of innovation, employee satisfaction, and long-term success.

This principle is explored in-depth in Eugene Peterson’s book, Working the Angles. The book emphasizes the importance of rhythms of rest, contemplation, and intentional withdrawal from constant busyness.

This principle of automation and order is seen throughout the Scripture. Jeremiah 31 highlights how God’s covenant with day and night remains unbroken, demonstrating His ability to establish systems that work on their own.

Just as creation operates on a reliable schedule, a business should be designed to run efficiently with systems in place.

One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is trying to do everything themselves. They write the content, edit the videos, design the graphics, answer customer inquiries, and handle every single task in their business.

But the truth is, doing it all alone is a recipe for burnout and slow growth.

Even God delegated responsibilities. After creating the world, He entrusted Adam and Eve to rule over creation. He didn’t micromanage every tree, every animal, or every river—He gave humans the responsibility to manage what He had set in motion.

Many entrepreneurs hesitate to outsource because they fear losing control or believe they can’t afford it. However, the longer you hold onto every task, the longer it will take for your business to scale.

If you’re just starting out, outsourcing doesn’t mean hiring a full-time employee right away. Start small by outsourcing one or two key tasks that consume too much of your time.

Here are some ideas:

  1. Hire a video editor—If content creation is part of your strategy, outsourcing video editing allows you to focus on creating, rather than spending hours on post-production.
  2. Work with a graphic designer—Professional branding and visuals increase credibility. Instead of struggling with Canva for hours, hire an expert.
  3. Use virtual assistants—Administrative tasks like email management, scheduling, and customer support can be handled by a VA, freeing up your time.
  4. Automate or delegate repetitive tasks—Use AI tools, automation software, or hire freelancers for tasks like bookkeeping, copywriting, or social media management.

When I create content, I don’t handle every part of the process myself. Instead, after recording a video, I send it to an editor who takes care of post-production.

A thumbnail designer then creates an engaging image to increase clicks and views. This system allows me to focus on my strengths—teaching, strategizing, and creating impactful content—without getting overwhelmed by the technical details.

Building a successful business is not a solo journey. The more you try to do everything alone, the more you slow your own progress. By outsourcing, you can leverage other people’s skills to grow faster and achieve greater impact.

Your business needs a thriving environment to grow. Just as plants can’t flourish in toxic soil, businesses can’t thrive in an environment that lacks vision, structure, or the right people.

Many entrepreneurs fail to grow because they surround themselves with people, habits, or mindsets that hold them back. If you constantly interact with people who don’t believe in success, fear risk, or criticize entrepreneurship, it will influence your mindset and decisions.

The same principle applies to business—without organization and clarity, chaos leads to confusion, inefficiency, and failure. Many struggling businesses lack clear strategies, structured workflows, and consistent branding, making it difficult for customers to trust or engage with them.

Success thrives in order, so setting up systems, defining clear goals, and maintaining consistency in content, marketing, and customer experience is essential.

One of the simplest ways to bring order to your business is through consistency—in how you create content, deliver services, and manage your operations. Instead of posting randomly, establish a structured content calendar.

Rather than making customers guess how to buy from you, create a seamless sales process. Keep branding, messaging, and customer interactions consistent and professional to build trust.

The clearer and more structured your business is, the easier it becomes for people to engage, buy, and return—turning a struggling business into a thriving one.
