5 Key Steps on How to Grow From Nothing Fast

Starting from scratch can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to build something meaningful. Whether it’s growing a YouTube channel, launching a business, or pursuing a dream, the road ahead might seem daunting.

But here’s the good news: You already have what it takes to succeed.

For years, I dreamed of creating meaningful content—something that could inspire others and spark change. Yet, I hesitated. Sharing personal insights and Biblical principles with a broader audience felt like a huge leap, and fear almost kept me from even trying.

The truth is, stepping into the unknown is challenging. Though I’d been creating content for years, this new channel felt different.

It wasn’t just about making videos; it was about sharing what mattered most to me, knowing it would be open to public critique. The fear of failure and judgment was real, but I knew I couldn’t let that stop me.

I want to share 5 actionable keys that have transformed my journey and can do the same for you.

These principles aren’t just ideas—they’re tested strategies that helped me grow one of my channels from zero to thousands of subscribers and counting. Let’s dive in.

When I started my channel, I recorded three videos to maximize my chances with the YouTube algorithm. One of those videos, titled How They Tricked You to Be Poor,” surprised me by quickly gaining traction.

It was my first video on the channel exposing the system keeping you from views, money and all that’s good. I thought my video on How to Make Ten Thousand Dollars a Month would take off, but it got crickets.

It wasn’t the video I expected to perform well, but its early success gave me a glimmer of hope.

However, the initial excitement didn’t last long. After a brief surge in views and subscribers, my channel felt stagnant. Watching the numbers slow down was disheartening. I found myself questioning whether the effort was worth it, and my motivation began to fade.

In those moments of doubt, I realized something important: I had been focusing too much on what I didn’t have. I wanted more views, more subscribers, and faster growth, but obsessing over the lack wasn’t helping. Instead, I shifted my focus to what I already had.

I began to recognize my existing resources—my experience running a business for 10 years, my channel with seven thousand subscribers, my marketing skills, and even an email list I had built in a previous project with thousands of people on it.

I decided to leverage those strengths. One simple action, sending an email to my subscribers about the channel, doubled my subscriber count almost instantly.

This shift in perspective changed everything. By focusing on my strengths instead of my shortcomings, I found renewed energy and direction.

Take a moment to reflect on your own strengths, skills, and resources. Write them down, and obsess over how you can use them to move forward.

Key #2: Surround Yourself With People Who Need What You Offer

Your content has the power to meet someone’s need. But first, you have to connect with those who are searching for what you have to share.

I remember a time when my wife and I spoke with a friend who was going through a difficult season. I shared Biblical insights that came naturally to me but profoundly impacted her. At the end of our conversation, she said, “You should charge for this!”

Now at two thousand dollars an hour, that would have cost about ten thousand dollars. We didn’t charge her, but the compliment was enough. That was free content. When people feel your free content is invaluable, they look forward to paying for more comprehensive help.

Also, in a recent video, I shared insights for people who know they need to sell but feel hesitant. Selling doesn’t have to feel pushy or uncomfortable.

I spoke about serving others by sharing what you know—when you genuinely help, you’re selling without any of the negative connotations we often associate with it.

For instance, I helped a friend of mine who struggled with selling after he reached out because of my experience. This reminded me of a crucial point: you need to surround yourself with people who need what you offer.

These environments constantly show you the value of what you bring to the table and inspire the exact content you should create.

Whether it’s through conversations, comments, or forums, pay attention—there are opportunities everywhere screaming relevance to your purpose. So step up, create, and serve. People need what you have.

One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned came from my time as a mentor. During a mentoring program when I was 19. The program emphasized one critical rule: always show up.

Consistency wasn’t just about being there—it was about earning trust. I heard a story about a young girl who watched her mentor from a distance for weeks before deciding to approach them. She needed to know that person wouldn’t abandon her.

Think of your audience like vulnerable children waiting for a mentor. If you don’t show up, they won’t trust you. I learned the importance of showing up consistently during my mentoring experience.

When you commit to a schedule, your viewers know when to expect your content. This principle applies to content creation as well.

I ensure my Business related content is available consistently—every Wednesday at 3 PM UK time, 10 AM Eastern, and 7 AM Pacific.

Your audience wants to know they can count on you. Showing up consistently—whether that’s posting regularly or engaging with your viewers—builds trust over time.

It’s a reminder that growth isn’t just about the content you create; it’s about the relationship you build with your audience.

Key #4: Be Yourself

Authenticity isn’t just refreshing—it’s essential. Early in my journey, I hesitated to share personal stories, thinking they weren’t professional enough. But I’ve learned that people connect with your personality as much as your message.

Be yourself and enjoy the process. I used to shy away from sharing personal experiences, but I’ve learned that sharing my journey is crucial for creating authentic content.

When I started sharing my fears, faith, and life experiences, I noticed a shift. The more you connect with your audience on a personal level, the more relatable your content becomes.

Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Your personality is what makes your content unique. By embracing who you are, you’ll attract the right people and create work that feels authentic and enjoyable.

Finally, belief is vital in your journey. The difference between those who succeed and those who don’t often comes down to belief. Jump in with both feet rather than hesitating. The more you believe in your journey and your purpose, the more resilience you cultivate against doubt.

Belief separates the winners from the losers. Share on X

This isn’t about blind optimism—it’s about trusting that with effort, focus, and faith, you can achieve what you set out to do. When you believe in your vision, it becomes easier to take bold steps forward.

Take the First Step

These 5 keys—focusing on your strengths, connecting with the right people, understanding your audience, embracing authenticity, and believing in your potential—can transform your journey.

Whether you’re starting a channel, launching a business, or pursuing a passion, the principles remain the same.
