Every day God gives us something more valuable than Gold. The sad thing is, most treat this gift like something less than the lowest form of currency in their respected countries. Adding to this point, they also spend it on foolish things every day. I am talking about time. We are gifted every day with a new set of 24 hours and what do we do with it? Most of us pick up exactly, if not worse than we left off. We go back to the same kind of things, we spend many hours again doing nonsense, and what is worse overall is many complain about their situations.

Ask yourself this, how many hours do I spend sleeping a day. The customary answer that most hear today is no more than eight hours of sleep. This leaves 16 hours of time remaining. What do you do with it?

How many hours do you devote to the box?

How many hours did you spend trying to better yourself?

How many hours did you spend talking about something foolish and trivial?

How many hours did you find yourself wanting on the internet?

Be true to yourself, there are more questions than these we all ask ourselves. Add up the hours and see what it amounts to. These are things we engage in on a daily basis. Apart from wasting time every day, do you think these are the things which will cause us to move forward?

I like to read books frequently, listen to audio and most importantly be productive. When I first started reading books, I was not always truthful when a writer would ask me a question. Now I have learned to overcome this problem and am happy how frequently I answer the questions rightly. However, for one moment, I will never forget that I am still running the race, I am advising others to run. I am still trying to be better, I am still trying to maximise my time most efficiently, but I know I am trying and I am trying. These are two things most people are not.

Let me show you from the perspective of someone who was very aware of this issue of management. When praying to God, Moses said the following “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalms 90:12). The word number here in the Hebrew root means to weigh out. It means to be mindful of the days that we have. Moses was asking God to teach his people this.

You see, many people won’t change. I was reading a book recently and the writer stated something so simple. They said “if you need to develop in an area, go and read up on that subject” What I did is first highlighted some areas of improvement in my life. Next, I went to the scriptures (which are my first point of education) and found many verses concerning the issue. I then wrote them in my personal notebook and began meditating on one verse concerning the matter each day. I would read the verse several times, I would listen to teachings on it and more importantly than the other two, I would start practising it. If you never address your problems, they compound and are worse tomorrow.
