King Ahasuerus was lord over nearly 150 provinces, from India, up till Ethiopia. He summoned for his wife who scriptures say was beautiful to look upon. She refused and continued about her affairs.
One thing I think she realized at the time was that the king was her affairs. The king held the power on earth to promote her, or to demote her. The king opted for the latter by instruction of one of his seven princes. Vashti was banished and the scripture says someone else would take the place of the queen.
This somewhat reminded me of the prophet David speaking of Judas, let someone else use his office and that is exactly what happened. People are easily replaced when they become complacent and I can testify. When I was found wanting in certain areas of life, God took away some of the things he had asked me to do. It was only when I began to change he started to deliver certain jobs back to me.
It’s so easy to become complacent, especially when in power. God made leagues with people and asked them to follow him. Those of us who do so were rewarded. Every day I try to get better, I try to move forward – not looking to be complacent again or find myself wanting.
