5 Ways to Make Money & Replace Your Income

Many people today are looking for ways to earn money beyond the traditional 9-to-5 job. Whether you want to create a side income or completely replace your job, there are proven methods that can help you generate consistent revenue.

In this post, I’ll share five ways to make money from your content. Four of these have helped me earn hundreds and thousands of dollars. The fifth is a popular strategy that many use successfully. However, I’ve chosen not to pursue it, and I’ll explain why later.

If you’re currently employed and looking to build an additional income stream, or if you’re between jobs and searching for a new way to make money, this article will be valuable to you.

The best part? You don’t have to limit yourself to just one method—you can use multiple strategies together to maximize your earnings.

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to make money online. It involves recommending products or services and earning a commission when people purchase through your referral link.

The best part is that the buyer doesn’t pay extra—you simply get a percentage of the sale as a reward for introducing them to the product.

I’ve personally made hundreds and thousands of dollars through affiliate marketing. One simple example is how I share book recommendations. I love reading, and I often discuss valuable books in my videos.

When I mention a book, I include an Amazon affiliate link in the description. If someone clicks on that link and buys the book, I get a commission without them paying anything extra.

Likewise, a crucial part of running a successful online business is managing leads effectively, and that’s where a Content Relationship Management (CRM) comes in.

When you generate leads—whether through videos, blog posts, or email marketing—you need a system to organize and nurture them.

A CRM helps you store contact information, track interactions, and automate follow-ups to turn potential customers into buyers. I personally use a CRM to manage my leads, and when I teach others how to grow their business, I recommend the same system I’ve used for years.

Unlike affiliate marketing for books, where you earn a one-time commission, many CRM platforms operate on monthly subscription models, meaning every time someone signs up through your referral link, you earn recurring income. This creates a steady, passive income stream that grows over time.

However, integrity is key. I don’t recommend anything I haven’t personally used or tested. There are people who promote products just for the money, but I believe in only sharing what I truly trust and use myself. This builds long-term trust with your audience.

Method #2: Sell Your Own Products and Services

One of the most profitable ways to make money online is by selling your own products. Unlike affiliate marketing—where you’re promoting someone else’s product—this allows you to create and sell something that’s completely yours.

For example, I wrote a book called 50 Life Lessons Before 25. It shares 50 Success Secrets that will make the next year of your life, the best year of your life. Even though I wrote it years ago, people still buy it today.

Back in the day, I used to sell DVDs and ship them worldwide. Most of my sales have come from digital products, which have been a game-changer.

The beauty of digital products is that you create them once and sell them forever. Whether it’s an eBook, an online course, or a training program, digital products can be sold to people worldwide without the hassle of shipping or inventory.

One of my best-selling digital products is Create Crowds Quickly, a training that teaches how to get thousands of views on YouTube. I recorded it once, and it sells every single day—even while I’m asleep. If you would like to create & sell your product in the next 7 days or less, this product of mine will help.

Compare that to a regular job, where you only get paid for the hours you work. With digital products, you do the work once, but you get paid over and over again.

Many creators underestimate how much people are willing to support them financially. If you’re providing value, some of your audience wants to give back. Platforms like Patreon and monthly memberships allow fans to contribute $5, $10, or even $50 per month to support your work.

On one of my Bible study YouTube channels, some viewers make monthly donations to support my content. They give not because they expect something in return but because they believe in the mission and want to see more content.

To use this strategy, start by asking your audience for support in a video. You can also add a link in your video descriptions or send an email explaining how they can contribute.

This method works well alongside other strategies like affiliate marketing and digital products, allowing you to build multiple income streams.

Method #4: YouTube AdSense & Social Media Monetization

Another way to make money is through ad revenue. YouTube pays creators when people watch ads on their videos. The more views you get, the more money you can make.

I have multiple YouTube channels—some monetized, some not. On my monetized channels, YouTube places ads before, during, and after my videos, and I get a share of that ad revenue. While this can be a great passive income source, it should not be your main income stream.

Unlike affiliate marketing or selling products, YouTube ad revenue is unpredictable. It depends on factors like algorithm changes and advertiser rates.

This is why experienced content creators treat AdSense as just one part of their income strategy instead of relying on it completely.

Many content creators make big money through sponsorships, where companies pay them to promote their products. For example, a company might pay a YouTuber $5,000 to feature their product in a video.

While this can be a huge income source, I personally choose not to pursue sponsorships unless the product aligns with my values. I’ve received offers from companies selling electric bikes, pens, and other unrelated products.

Even though the money was good, I declined because it didn’t fit my content.

If you pursue sponsorships, make sure they align with your brand and values. Your audience trusts you, and promoting irrelevant or low-quality products just for the money can hurt your credibility in the long run.

Build Your Income with Integrity

The best way to build a sustainable income online is to combine multiple income streams. I personally make money from affiliate marketing, digital products, audience support, and YouTube AdSense.

By using these strategies together, you can maximize your earnings while staying true to your values.

If you’re serious about making money online, start by choosing one or two methods and focus on building them consistently. Over time, you can expand and create multiple revenue streams that allow you to work on your terms.
